Psalms of Comfort 19: Be Still — He is With You
Psalm 145 (New King James Version)
5 I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty,
And on Your wondrous works.
Has it been a while since you stared at the heavens in speechless amazement? Has it been awhile since you realized God’s divinity?
If it has, then you need to know something. He is still there and always will be. What ever you are swamped by, what ever you seem to be overcome by, take your mind off that for a moment and look up. He hasn’t left.
We have had the pleasure and the privilege of gazing at the magnificent night sky recently. Sometimes I have to tear myself away from the upward gaze. Words cannot describe the wonder, grandeur and excellency of what God has created, of his works.
I once spent some time in Venice and I wandered about the streets amazed by the architecture, in and out of the palaces and museums and galleries looking up at the amazing works created by men and women of long ago who are long dead. All these works are the products of the gifts given to man by God.
The thing about God is that he is still creating, the universe continues to expand, you and I are part of God’s wonderful works. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, psalm 139 tells us.
I find that meditating on Gods wonderful works gives me a sense of my place in his creation. We all have a place in it and continue to have a place in it. Every day he is with us, every day his magnificence is before us.
May we all appreciate that afresh today.
