Successful Bilingual Celtic Praise Night

Some of the talented musicians who led the congregation in worship

The Stornoway High Church hosted a memorable Bilingual Celtic Praise night on Sunday, July 21, which saw an overwhelming turnout of over 150 attendees. The evening was a splendid display of musical talent, bilingual meditations, and communal worship, bringing together both English and Gaelic speakers in a harmonious celebration of faith.

Rev DM MacInnes led the service with his characteristic blend of reverence and humour, engaging the audience and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The program featured a series of uplifting performances by talented local musicians, including Crìsdean & Louisa Macdonald, Jack Wolf, Alice Macmillan, Isobel Macleod, David Leigh, and Juliet McKenzie.

Highlights of the evening included a stirring rendition of "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes, which left the audience in awe, and a variety of readings, prayers, and traditional psalm singing that provided a deep sense of spiritual fulfilment. The event concluded on a high note with a feeling of unity and peace among those present.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with comments such as:

"Wonderful praise. How interesting and thank you to the amazing young musicians. A sense of peace. We say a huge thank you to you all."

"Wonderful evening of praise, prayer, and professionalism provided by one and all! Mile taing dhoibh uile!"

The collection taken during the event currently totals £500 and will go to support the Bethesda Hospice, continuing the church’s tradition of charity and support for local causes.
